Well, first things first, you will arrive at Narita airport and be welcomed by a bunch of Tokyo Orientation Assistants, who will kindly guide you everywhere you need to go and help out with everything you need - no problems there! You'll have a bus ride to the motel which will take a few hours, and then you'll hopefully be able to have a rest before you get in to the orientation! Depending on which country you're from, this is probably the next day. The Tokyo Orientation usually lasts for a couple of days, and during this time you will be able to take a huge variety of workshops and essentially get "orientated" to Japan! You will also get to have an Area Meeting where you will be able to meet the people in charge of the JET Programme in Fukushima Prefecture, and meet all the other JETs coming to Fukushima! During this Area Meeting you will also be quickly briefed on the schedule for the following day - when you will be up and atom at the crack of dawn, and off to your new home away from home!
~ CURRENTLY PLANNED, BUT MAY CHANGE ~
2011 TOKYO ORIENTATION GROUP A : JULY 25 ~ 27 |
2011 TOKYO ORIENTATION GROUP B : AUGUST 1 ~ 3 |
|
On the day we leave, you will get up early to prepare to leave Tokyo for Fukushima. We have a tight schedule, so please don't sleep in!!! We'll probably be heading to Koriyama City, in central Fukushima Prefecture, where you will get to meet face to face with people from your contracting organisations, then you'll head off to your new homes. It will be VERY hot and muggy in Japan when you arrive, and Fukushima should be even hotter than Tokyo - so come prepared with appropriate wear!
FUKUSHIMA NEW COMERS ORIENTATION : NO ORIENTATION |
|
The next big thing that normally happens is the Fukushima orientation for all new comers. Unfortunately, due to lack of resources because of the earthquake on 11th March 2011, we won't be able to have the Fukushima Orientation this year... :-( However, we will be producing a New Comer's Orientation Booklet instead. It will include things like, information on Fukushima and how things work here, introductions of your ASLs (area support leaders), and a variety of other info. The booklet is designed to give you helpful and very useful advice and insight in to Fukushima Prefecture.
