For the Great East Japan Earthquake which occurred on March 11, 2011, we have received much support from people all over the world, such as the dispatch of medical teams and rescue parties, and sending of relief supplies and money. I would heartily like to appreciate for all the support given to us.
Fukushima Prefecture was worst affected by the earthquake and the tsunami, yet the following nuclear accident has been gradually stabilized, but not completely resolved.
Additionally, groundless rumors caused severe damage to all the fields including agriculture, forestry and fishery industries; and tourism industry.
However, we now have some momentums to overcome such difficulties, 6 months after the disaster.
Companies in the prefecture have made great progress in restoring from the damage caused by the disaster, and many of them have recovered their production activities to the pre-disaster condition.
For agricultural, forestry and fishery products of the prefecture, we are conducting elaborate and well-examined monitoring to confirm the safety of the products without fail. Therefore, all the products in the market are all assured for safe intake.
I am fully determined to address the restoration and the revitalization of the prefectural land and industries to respond to your affections and compassions.
Here, I would like to introduce some words expressed by high school students who are responsible for the future, in the course of the revitalization.
gI will revive Fukushima no matter how hard it is.h
gIt is my dream to be born in Fukushima, grow in Fukushima, get employed, get married, give birth to a baby, see my grandchildren, see my great-grand children and live my final stage in Fukushima.h
I was very impressed by the straightforward and strong words of high school students. To respond to such children's desire and implement measures for revitalization for the future of the prefecture, we have drawn up eThe vision for revitalization of Fukushima Prefecture'.
Assuming this vision as a waymark, I will go forward with residents and municipalities hand in hand to revive eFUKUSHIMA', which is widely known to the world due to the nuclear accident, to gA new Fukushimah in which we can take pride to the world.
Fukushima Prefecture has many tourism sources, such as affluent and beautiful nature, venerable traditional culture, and 130 hot springs that you can fully enjoy.
Actually, there are few areas that are prohibited from entering because of the nuclear accident in the prefecture. I hope that you will fairly understand the status of the prefecture and visit Fukushima with diverse attractions.
Lastly, I would heartily like to ask your continued warm support to the prefecture, Tohoku Region and Japan.
